Getting there
Naples can be easily reached thanks to a very efficient road and train network that connects the city with the rest of Italy, and also thanks to its international airport.
- By car: Those coming from Rome or from the North should follow highway A1 up to Naples. If you are instead coming from the South, travel the entire length of A3 up to Naples. From Bari and Puglia take A16 up to destination.
- By train: The central station of Naples is very well connected to the rest of Italy by a very frequent train service. The new high-speed Rome-Naples line has recently started operating. For times please consult the Trenitalia site or call the green number 89 20 21.
- By plane: Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP) offers connections to all Italian cities and major European destinations with traditional or low-cost airline companies. From the airport the "Alibus" shuttle service takes you directly to the center of the city. The nearest Intercontinental Airport is Rome's Fiumicino (FCO), with the possibility of getting to Naples by air besides the train.
- By sea: From Naples' Beverello and Mergellina wharfs depart the hydrofoils and ferries for the Gulf islands and for the Sorrento Peninsula; the hydrofoils are much faster (and more expensive) than the ferries and the service is usually more frequent during summer.
