Shopping
Corso Carducci is the main shopping street of Grosseto, but almost the entire city center is a pedestrian mall and offers visitors the opportunity to browse comfortably among the many local craft shops. Moreover, even the medieval villages of the Maremma and the resorts along the coast are well-supplied to satisfy the demand for typical products.
The local crafts are centered on ceramics, no doubt inspired by Etruscan art, wrought iron and leather accessories handworked in the tradition of the Maremma cowboys. Naturally, in addition to crafts, gastronomy is the star of Maremma shopping. You'll have a hard time choosing: there are the deli meats like "finocchiona" and wild boar prosciutto, wild game sauces, Pecorino cheeses, olive oil and the many excellent wines produced by its generous land. There are many holiday farms scattered throughout Maremma countryside and it is possible to buy fresh, genuine products directly on the farm.
The villages of the Maremma regularly hold antique fairs and we list the most important. In Orbetello: Mercatino dell’Antiquariato, every 1st weekend of the month; in Marina di Grosseto: Maremma Antiquaria, every 3rd weekend of the month.
